NICHOLAS JONES retired as BBC political correspondent in 2002, since when he has continued to write and lecture extensively about political communication. His many books include Sultans of Spin, Sound Bites and Spin Doctors and The Control Freaks, as well as accounts of the 1992 and 1997 general elections.
