Stanley Johnson is a former Member of the European Parliament, author, journalist and environmental campaigner. He has received the Greenpeace Award for Outstanding Services to the Environment, as well as the RSPCA Richard Martin Award for Services to Animal Welfare and the Silver Medal of the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). He also won the Newdigate Prize for Poetry at Oxford University.
 
Stanley is the author of nine novels, one of which – The Commissioner – was made into a feature film starring John Hurt. He has written more than a dozen non-fiction books on environmental topics, as well as the first volume of this memoir, Stanley, I Presume, which was published in 2009. He is President Emeritus of the Gorilla Organization and an ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme’s Convention on Migratory Species (CMS).

He was one of the first presenters of The Last Word, a guest on Have I Got News For You and, most recently, a contestant on Pointless.
