Tina Shingler
Tina Shingler has had a lifelong interest in identity and writes about diversity issues. She wrote and published one of the first children’s books to address Afro hair, in 2004. In writing Princess Katrina and the Hair Charmer as a biracial adult, she was determined to create a Rapunzel-type adventure for kinky-haired girls that was the kind of self-affirming story she would have loved to read as a child. The book was recently revived in an award-winning BBC video and is now used as a teaching aid for diversity in schools across the country.
