Peter Day at the Cheltenham Literature Festival
- 8 Oct 2014
- 14:00 -15:00
- Cheltenham Literature Festival, The Town Hall
Peter Day, author of Franco’s Friends, will be at the Cheltenham Literature Festival to discuss Spanish Civil War: Divided Britain.
Recent reports of British nationals leaving these shores for a foreign civil conflict carry echoes of the past. Richard Baxell (Unlikely Warriors), Peter Day (Franco’s Friends) and Mary S Lovell (The Mitford Girls) discuss what drove Britons to join the war in Spain – both those who fought against Franco and the members of the establishment who secretly supported him.
