Someone told us that today (Monday 17 January) is the most depressing day of the year. Alright, so it wasn’t someone it was somemany, and they had a fair case to make... for today there are no big holidays on the horizon, money that was spent over Christmas has dried up leaving people awaiting their next paycheque with bated breath from hungry mouths, it’s still January, it’s still dark when you get up, it’s still cold and, shock horror, it’s still raining!

There are groups of people who aren’t susceptible to these factors, such as those not paying rent, those not living in England and those of a sunnier disposition than the average English person. However, we figure that many of the readers of this blog do tend to fall into these categories (no offense, we’re sure many of you are happy people the rest of the year), so we’ve got something that might cheer you up (and no, it’s not an office-based session of exchanging bad jokes, but any excuse for one of those!)...

After publishing The Yes Minister Miscellany (back when the weather was at least vaguely pleasant and Christmas was looming), we now have top-price tickets to give away for the Yes, Prime Minister Tour, and all you have to do is prove yourself a fan by answering a simple question (although the question’s probably so easy that people who aren’t fans could get it)...

Following a smash hit sell-out West End season, Yes, Prime Minister is now on tour in your constituency!

The original writers of the classic BBC TV series, Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn have reunited for this anniversary production and now the Prime Minister Jim Hacker played by Richard McCabe (Spooks, Wallander) ans his Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby played by Simon Williams (Upstairs, Downstairs) are back in this hilarious new play.

In a world of spin, BlackBerrys and ‘sexed up’ dossiers, the PM is staring disaster in the face. The country is on the brink of financial meltdown and the Government’s only apparent salvation comes from a morally dubious deal with the Foreign Minister of Kumranistan. Will Jim Hacker and his team of advisors be able to rescue the country from the edge?
