Mark Nicol

Mark Nicol was born into an army family and has reported on UK military operations for twenty-five years. He is the Daily Mail’s defence and diplomacy editor and an international affairs commentator on radio and television. He has also lectured at the Joint Services Command and Staff College. Mark is the only journalist to have spoken to an SAS soldier who pulled the trigger on operations that are the subject of the High Court Independent Inquiry Relating to Afghanistan. He has also provided his own witness testimony to the inquiry.

His previous books include Last Round, covering the deaths of six Royal Military Policemen in Iraq, and Ultimate Risk, an account of the SAS’s biggest mission in Afghanistan. Mark lives in West London with his wife and their four children.
