Peter Shore was one of the Labour Party's most important and original thinkers, working under Hugh Gaitskell, and serving in successive Cabinets for Harold Wilson and James Callaghan. He rose to become shadow Chancellor in a tumultuous period of Labour's history. During his long career in the upper echelons of the party, he stood twice for the leadership, becoming well known for his strong opposition to what is now the EU.

Shore's politics have new relevance as the United Kingdom withdraws from the European Union and the Labour Party seeks to reinvent itself after four successive general election defeats.

A cross-party panel, including Sir Bill Cash MP and the former Labour MP Kate Hoey will explore the contribution Shore made to British politics and British life, and his enduring legacy. This will be followed by a Q&A.
