It has been a funny week in the Biteback/The Robson Press office.
Lewis managed to conceal the fact that it was birthday yesterday until 2pm, when resident busybod– I mean Ella, appeared with a plate of cakes. James returned from his jaunt to South Africa with his very best ‘Brits abroad’ perma-tan. I asked Iain Dale a polite question and his response was to offer me a ‘hot and tasty sausage’. Over at the editorial desk, Hollie, Nam, Jess and Sam...well, actually, they just told us to pipe down so they could get on with, you know, editing books and stuff.
It’s safe to say that things have been odd. And they’re about to get ODDER. For the High Priestess of Publicity, Emma Young, is leaving us this week for the land of New York, New York, and Katy Scholes, wearer of double denim, is skedaddling off to India to ‘find herself’ for six weeks.
I think it’s safe to say that we’ll miss them both. Emma for being aaaaaachingly cool, hip and groovy, and for her acerbic wit, and Katy for...that thing...well I’m sure we’ll think of something. JOKING. We’ll miss her. LOTS.
As tearful as we might be at the prospect of two of our most treasured staff members flying the nest, at times like this we must remember the wise words of an inspirational group of men and women, otherwise known as S Club 7: ‘Sometimes goodbye, though it hurts in your heart, is the only way for destiny’.
Bon voyage, Emma and Katy, and good luck!
