Hi, I’m Clara, and Biteback have (recklessly) allowed me to blog my thoughts on here after four weeks exposure to them and their scandalous office exploits.
Unfortunately, however, aside from some office banter that has occasionally bordered on the less-than-PC, I don’t really have a lot of scandal to report.
I’ve definitely learnt a few things while I’ve been here – how to answer the phone on reception, for example. Thank you, by the way, to the anonymous person on the other end of the line who spent the better half of ten minutes telling me exactly what I was doing wrong.
But I’ve also seen book launches, sat in on meetings with authors, proof-read manuscripts, written blurbs, and sifted through the weird and wonderful submissions pile. It’s all been very exciting – and with a minimum of photocopying and tea-making involved. In fact, I think more people have made tea for me since I’ve been here than the other way around.
So, as far as my (admittedly fairly limited) experience of the publishing world goes, Biteback are pretty high in my estimation.
Thank you to all of them for having me here!
