So, East Anglia is now officially Biteback’s favourite region of England, ever. Not only did it provide us with cake-eating victory for Masters of Nothing author Matthew Hancock (see here), but now, even more excitingly, not just one but TWO of our books have been shortlisted in the Biography and Memoir section of the East Anglian Book Awards.

Both Whatever Next (Earl Ferrers) and Knapton: Twentieth-Century Village Voices (Gillian Shephard), are in with a chance of the ultimate honour: being named overall East Anglian Book of the Year.

Matthew Hancock, eat your heart out. Publicity-wise this definitely beats being able to stuff Victoria sponge in your mouth at high speed.
