Biteback Publishing is looking for an editorial intern to start work at our offices on Albert Embankment at the beginning of September. We are Britain’s leading publisher of political and current affairs titles, and also publish espionage, general non-fiction, sport and some classic political fiction. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and enterprising, with the ability to learn quickly; our goal is to ensure that each intern gains experience in key editorial tasks and leaves us with the skills to undertake a full-time role in publishing. We have a very good record of employing interns, or ensuring they move on to paid employment elsewhere.

An eye for detail – ability to spot grammatical and layout errors in text, and inconsistencies

Excellent spelling and grammar

Black-belt Microsoft Word skills

Writing ability in different genres

Interest in politics / current affairs

Appreciation of layout / typography

InDesign / Photoshop skills a bonus

Research skills

Our internships are initially four weeks long, but can be extended to three months by mutual consent. Reasonable travel expenses (zones 1–5) will be covered.
