Biteback Publishing is looking for editorial and publicity/marketing/sales interns to start work at our offices on Albert Embankment at the beginning of January 2013. We are Britain’s leading publisher of political and current affairs titles, and also publish espionage, general non-fiction, sport and some classic political fiction. Our Robson Press imprint offers an eclectic mix of commercial non-fiction. Our internships are initially four weeks long, but can be extended to three months by mutual consent. Reasonable travel expenses (zones 1–5) will be covered.

Editorial
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and enterprising, with the ability to learn quickly; our goal is to ensure that each intern gains experience in key editorial tasks and leaves us with the skills to undertake a full-time role in publishing. We have a very good record of employing interns, or ensuring they move on to paid employment elsewhere.
Candidate profile:
An eye for detail – ability to spot grammatical and layout errors in text, and inconsistencies
Excellent spelling and grammar
Black-belt Microsoft Word skills
Writing ability in different genres
Interest in politics / current affairs
Appreciation of layout / typography
InDesign / Photoshop skills a bonus
Research skills

Publicity/marketing/sales
We are urgently looking for an intern to assist with publicity and marketing campaigns, to start as soon as possible. Applicants need to have an interest in publishing, publicity or marketing and be based in London. The internship will provide the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of publicity and marketing including press release writing, research, liaison with the media and authors and other publicity and marketing duties.
