In case you haven't noticed, Tango 190 is published today. It goes without saying that if you hadn't noticed you've been living under a rock. And that's your fault, not the fault of some freak landslide. Because today, PC David Rathband could be seen on the BBC Breakfast Show, The Wright Stuff Extra with Gabby Logan and Sky News.
That's not all you can expect to hear from PC Rathband. We're in overdrive. Tomorrow he'll be spanning the airwaves: he'll be with Nick Ferrari in the morning on LBC and Tony Livesey on Radio 5 Live a little later. I could go on bragging but it's part of my remit on this blog to keep you reading, and you'll probably just get bored (I'll tell you on Twitter instead!)
It was a nice surprise to walk into the office this afternoon - after falling into the bottomless pit of despair that is a heavily delayed, two-hour editorial meeting - to witness the jubilant face of the big cheese, the gross fromage, the Iain Dale come running from his office:
"Rathband on the telly! Rathband on the telly!"
Proles: "Ooooh!" *pitter patter, pitter patter*
There he was on Sky News being interviewed by Colin Brazier. We all stood, eagerly anticipating that moment. That moment of triumph. Then it came. Over the beating hearts and me nom nom nomming my much delayed cous cous - don't forget the torturous editorial meeting - I couldn't quite make out what Colin had said but it must have been along the lines of: "and this is your excellent book, published by the excellent Biteback which is available now." Yes, it must have been just like that. And then POW a very healthy 6 seconds of screen filled only by the book.
You see at a Publishing House this is bliss. Sad, yes. But true nonetheless. A self-congratulatory roar rose up. And we had triumphed.
I'll leave our reaction to the news that we'd reached number 86 in the Amazon charts to your imagination.
We do love moments like this. And we do also hope that you'll buy the book to make it all worthwhile. Tango 190 is a story well worth reading. Don't just take my word for it, HRH The Prince of Wales, Carol Vorderman and Alan Shearer all think it is too.
Tango 190 is published today and is available here, priced £15.99.
