Did you know that Francis Beckett, author of How To Create A Successful School, Prime Ministers Who Never Were, and What Did The Baby Boomers Ever Do For Us?, is not just an author but also a successful playwright, journalist, broadcaster and historian? Sebastian Mann, over at Total Politics, did. He went to see Francis's play, The London Spring, a vision of a future dystopian London.
You can read the full review here. Here's what Sebastian thought of the play:
'Beckett covers a lot of ground in this play, and combines humour with dramatic intensity well – one overt criticism of Top Gear’s just-a-joke comedy is dealt with a particularly deft hand.'
'The London Spring is an accomplished attempt to address through art the market economics that defines our politics. It may not be easy watching for coalition adherents, against whom it is clearly directed, but The London Spring will entertain nonetheless.'
