Publishing books is great and one of the many brilliant perks of the job is that you get free books. Not all books, mind you, just the ones that you publish. There’s no card that gives us free rein in Waterstone’s, but then you wouldn’t want to read anything but Biteback titles anyway. The only problem is that we can no longer give books to people as presents, because they think we just got them free from work (which is kind of unfair - you can still put thought into a present you got free from work - and we do have a lot of books to choose from).
However, it’s possible that Big Cheese had us publish Biteback’s new title Talking Politics for the precise purpose of giving it to people for Christmas. This suspicion is completely unfounded, but a suspicion it remains!

Using the ‘In Conversation’ format, his unique interviewing style has lulled many a politician, from those we love to those we love to hate, into a sense of security that has resulted in some very revealing conversations.
Hopefully he won’t use this skill when talking to us at the Christmas party, a couple of glasses of mulled wine loosens our tongue enough as it is.
