The skill of writing a great book is one that is shared by all our authors here at Biteback, so much so that we now just expect it of everyone who comes to the office. However, when Paul Moorcraft, author of Inside the Danger Zones sent us this postcard from his reporting in the Sudan, we got something we didn’t expect.

We’re not sure if we’re putting ourselves in the danger zone by putting this up for all the world to see (the beauty of the internet), but we don’t think he should be ashamed of the performance and, if he managed to convince the camera crew to indulge him and wanted to send it to us, he probably isn’t.
Makes us wish we did audiobooks. Maybe he’d do a CD for the office, we’d love to hear him do some Johnny Cash or Tom Waits.
Inside The Danger Zones: Travels to Arresting Places is the story of Paul’s journalistic work covering major wars over the last three decades, going from the siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s to travelling to meet Saddam on the eve of the 2003 allied invasion of Iraq. Paul recounts his experiences of countless war zones and working at the heart of the British security establishment in a book that is always fascinating.
It’s even more beautiful if you imagine he’s singing it to you.
