Here at Biteback Publishing, we think books are great. Just can’t get enough of ‘em. Oh, and reading’s pretty awesome, too. But we’re also quite partial to a bit of listening – that Senior Editor, for example, likes to keep half an ear on the cricket, and Big Cheese’s assistant, who sits next to me and fights over the desk space, loves nothing better than to while away the hours watching Maggie T’s speeches online.

If you fancy a little auditory gem, click here to listen to Scott Colvin’s short podcast on Tory Radio about his upcoming book, How to Use Politicians to Get What You Want. Beginning with a short run-down of his political credentials, Colvin explains how a few years ago he learned a key skill: how to capitalize on politicians to achieve his aims. Bringing his local MP into a dispute with his energy company, Colvin found, helped immeasurably in getting the issue resolved, and before long he found himself advising his friends and family to make use of this most vital – but largely untapped – resource: the political bigwig.

For Colvin, we can all do with a little instruction on how to ‘better harness the influence and power of the political system’ in order to win our personal and consumer battles. The information contained in his book will, he says, save the reader both time and money. Sounds good to me.

How to Use Politicians to Get What You Want is available from 14th April, priced £14.99
