Andy Ross
Formerly deputy director of the UK Government Economic Service and deputy director at HM Treasury, he is a visiting professor at Reading University, and visiting research fellow at Leeds University, he is also now a part-time lecturer at Birkbeck.
Andy is a patron of the Economics Network and serves on the Council of the Academy of Social Science. He is also the employer representative on the QAA subject benchmark panel for economics. He is an economic consultant for High Oak Enterprises Ltd and a member of Westminster Business School Advisory Board. Previously he has been a member of the Conference of Heads of University Departments of Economics, and the British Academy’s UK Strategic Forum for Social Science.
He has also authored textbooks and been a university dean, college director, university inspector, local government councillor, dot com director and ‘Investors in People’ reviewer.
Andy joined the civil service in 2000 to jointly found the OECD’s leading micro-econometric laboratory at the Office for National Statistics, before moving to HM Treasury in 2005. His research interest is in economics for professional practitioners.
