Outhouse East are pleased to announce that on the evening of the 6th November we will be joined by James Wharton to give a talk on his experiences as a Gay author and soldier.

James Wharton,  Author and LGBT Campaigner: In 2013 James Wharton published his debut book Out In The Army that detailed his ten years’ service to the British Army as one of the first openly gay soldiers. The book is a journey from the infancy of gay inclusion in a traditional organisation, to the forward moving modern army of today, told through personal experience. A high profile gay role model and public speaker, James has graced the cover of Attitude magazine and is a regular columnist for Winq magazine. Many awards and accolades have been bestowed on James and he has ranked in the Top 20 of the Independent on Sunday's ‘Pink List’ and in 2014 he received the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of his work in the LGBT community to tackle homophobic bullying in secondary schools.

Please join the Outhouse East in welcoming James to Colchester as he joins us to talk about his experiences in and indeed outside of the armed forces.  During the evening James will be on hand to take questions and sign books, copies of which will also be available on the evening. Light refreshments including wine, soft drinks and snacks will be available
