Tony Benn: Loony or Lion? Chris Mullin and Dick Taverne, chaired by Michael White.
Harold Wilson said of Tony Benn, the most controversial politician of the post-war era: ‘He immatured with age.’ No-one could have done more damage to the Labour party, he loved so much. And yet, his courage and honesty won him many fans from both sides of the house. He admitted to having made many mistakes in his career but his probity was never in question. Political editor of The Guardian Michael White, will chair a discussion between diarist and former Labour minister Chris Mullin and Dick Taverne, the Liberal Democrat peer whose memoir Against the Tide: Politics and Beyond was published earlier this year.
